Yokko's Bio
I was a working actor in Japan, and decided to come to the U.S to study acting. I attended the University of Oregon, there I recieved scholorship program, International Cultural Service Program (ICSP) and I had shared Japanese culture with the local communities, and started to study Theatre Arts. I founded Japanese Performing Arts Company(JPAC) which shared the peroformances with Nihon Buyo (Japanese Classical Dance) and Tate (Japanese Stage Combat) in Drama. Because of the work of JPAC, I recieved International Understanding Award. I transferd to SUNY at Albay, and recieved B.A in thetare There, I recieved Aggies Award Best Female Performer (Tiresias from Antigone by Bertoit Brecht, translated by Judith Malina, Directed by Chad Larabee). As my final project there, I wrote solo-show, BALDY, and presented it at the Arena Theatre at Performance Arts Center (PAC). I moved to NYC to have the training from Actors Studio Drama School MFA in Acting at Pace University. There, I worked several plays & characters which expanded my capacity as an artist and person. Favorite Chracters at ASDS: Rose (The Woolgatherer), Ruth (The Homecoming), Barman (In the Bar of a Tokyo Hotel), Lady (Orpheus Descending), Teri (Lady of Fadima), Celia (Hatfull of Rain), Sonya(Uncle Vanya), Lina (Three Days of Rain), Roberta (Danny and the deep blue sea), Bonnie (Hurly Burly). I recieved MFA in May, 2012. I have been several shows in NYC including own show, BALDY (Dorothy Strelsin Thetare in 2010).
